Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Thirdly, Star Trek; Deep Space Nine or DS9 first aired in 1993 with a very different take on what Star Trek was supposed to be, and because of that it was initially met with negative feedback. Besides the fact that the main character for the first time in Star trek history was a African American male and at the time only the second African American male to be in Star Trek as regular, the vast majority of the show takes place on a remote space station. Where past and now future shows have all taken place on a spaceship traveling through space exploring the unknown. The show follows the arduous reconstruction of a planet who people were oppressed for a century, this however comes to a halt when aliens from another side of the Galaxy decide to invade through a wormhole that happened to be right next to said planet. Throughout the early part of the show we see how the planet recovers and how the various resistance cells reorganize into a functioning planetary government. This is the first Star Trek series and truly the only series that truly addresses terrorism and extremist religious groups, as well as the forced relocation of refugees and those native to there land because of decisions made by people Who have no stake in the matter. This is not unlike certain real lives events in Canada in the United States. And then when war brakes out, we see all the main characters deal with moral dilemmas and whether they're doing the right thing. More than anything this show has showed me that there is always another side to an argument, and to consider it even if it's completely invalid. These clips best illustrate the show.
